Canada Has a Message for the U.S.: You’re Already Great

2 minute read

Canadians, for obvious reasons, cannot vote in the 2016 election, but they have to live through it, too. The intense partisanship that’s been perpetuated throughout the election has led our neighbors to the north to remind Americans that the country actually is pretty great.

The New York Times reports that the Toronto-based creative agency the Garden Collective is behind the videos, and corresponding hashtag, which friendly Canadians are using to share a cheery message.

“We know you have some really big decisions to make, but as you’re thinking about your future we just want you to know that you guys are great,” a crew of Canadians tells the camera.

Throughout the video, America is praised for having great parks, fantastic music, praise-worthy sports, and diversity. The message piggybacks off of tweets that were shared via the hashtag #tellamericaitsgreat over the weekend. Dozens shared messages of hope and gratitude on Twitter, thanking the U.S. for Beyonce, parks, sports, and space exploration.

All these kind words are hopefully enough to pull the U.S. through these tough times. After all, the election is only 22 days away.
