A family dog killed a 4-year-old girl in Michigan and injured her mother, according to authorities.
A Doberman or Doberman mix dog that had recently been added to the family turned on the child in the Sunday attack in Sherman Township, the Associated Press reports. The mother reportedly tried to protect her daughter and sustained injuries to her head and hands as a result. The family’s name has not been released.
The mother was hospitalized after the attack. Authorities are currently investigating and the dog is being held by animal control.
