Every November, hundreds of thousands of people set out to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. The National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) mantra essentially is: It doesn’t have to be pretty, but it does have to be on paper.
While the task sounds pretty challenging (to put it mildly), a whopping 341,375 participated and 38,438 people completed the task last year.
We have a slightly less ambitious assignment to dole out. To get the creative ball rolling, we’re asking readers to tweet an awesome first sentence to #TIMENaNo. Highbrow, lowbrow, good, bad and ugly.
We’ll feature the best ones next week.
Happy writing.
